When you clock off at the end of the day, the natural thing to do is to go home and collapse on the sofa. You’re exhausted, you’re ready to go to bed and be done for the day. The thing is, you need more than that to exist. Yes, it’s nice to work and then relax every evening, but you need more than that. You need to do more to fulfil the fun side of you. Your life has to include balance, and while you have the weekends for balance, they’re not always enough. 

Two days to have fun? There is more to life than that. There is more to everything than that. When you’re not at work, you are free to be whoever you want to be, and do whatever you want to do. Making the most of your downtime isn’t always easy, but there are options. Below, we’ve put together a mini list of four ways that you can have fun when you’re not at work.

  1. Sit back and watch. Whether you’re outside in the park lazily watching the world go by, or you’re sitting back and burning through your favorite shows on Netflix, you need to have some days where your entertainment is lazy. You can get so much of a thrill from being out there in the world and attempting adrenaline sports, but sometimes, the best types of entertainment are the slowest ones. Being lazy is not a bad thing, not in a world we’re supposed to be “on” all the time.
  2. Get inspired. There are so many activities out there that will inspire you to do more, be more, but sometimes, you just want to indulge in them for fun. Cooking, for example, is a great way to entertain yourself and you can follow online classes, YouTube videos and even Instagram tutorials to learn how to do it for yourself. It’s a fun way to unwind while also feeling like you’re achieving something.
  3. Go outside. When you’re stuck in work all day, sometimes, you need a little sunshine and fresh air once you leave. Get outside and go for a walk, a climb, a splash in the ocean. No matter what it is you do, fresh air can make a big difference to how you feel at the end of a long day. You can often use getting outside into nature as a way to get out of your head and seek something else than the four walls of an office, too.
  4. Try something new. The last thing you should do is really up to you. Trying out new things is exciting, and it’s a good way to feel enriched and as if you can do anything. Trying out something new is going to help you to generate new conversations with friends, too. It can also help you at work if you are looking for ways to improve the way you currently work.
