SSD’s February Treat of the Month – Leslie Coltrain

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

February is midway and I am only now blogging about this. Perhaps the quick trim burn and cleanse I have been trying to use also cleans out my memory! :)

February is here and we couldn’t be more excited because we’re celebrating 4 years of sweetness here at SSD with a month of special events! In addition to a brand new set of challenges for our February portfolio, we also have an amazing new Treat of the Month that we are so excited to shine the spotlight on! Leslie Coltrain is a scrapper with distinctive style and her gallery is going to knock your socks off. Lifting Leslie is the very first task that will earn you Sweet Reward points in this month’s portfolio, so get to her gallery right away and start looking for a page that inspires you! In addition to earning you a point, every layout posted in our special Treat of the Month Gallery this month will be automatically entered to win a $10 gift certificate to the shoppe! As if that weren’t sweet enough, don’t forget to look for more of Leslie’s work in the shoppe this month in our "Inspired By Leslie" templates created by Darcy Baldwin. Thanks for making Sweet Shoppe Designs such a sweet place to be over the last 4 years, we look forward to many more celebrations with you in the future!

Here is my page for her:

I Loved You First

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I cannot help but not make this page after my son told me one time that all I ever have time for is his sister. He is really growing up so fast that sometimes emotionally it is hard to keep up and give him what he needs. Teenagers are the “neediest” of all ages. They need time and space and friend/older sister/brother more than a Mom or Dad. It is hard to know where to place yourself. I wonder if richard willich felt the same thing growing up?

Here is what I wrote:
I know there are times when you would wonder if I really love you especially at this stage when all I seem to do is notice all the things you do wrong and I focus on your little sister all the time. May these pictures remind you that the spotlight was yours for five years. You were my first, you will always be the first. My son, I loved you first.

SSD’s Featured Staffer – Lauren Grier (Feb 12th)

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Who doesn’t love Lauren Grier? I totally recommend that you read her interview (together with the hydrolyze review you need to be reviewing, whatever that is) – you will learn more about La, as she is fondly called. What I love about La is not only is she a great designer she is a fabulous scrapper as well, her style stands out, and you gotta read her pages, straight to the heart, laugh out loud, knock your socks off!

Here are some pages I made using La’s stuff:

SSD’s Take Out Tuesday (Feb 9th)

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I haven’t been able to share the pages I’ve made recently, I’ve been busy scrapping and working (and looking for new cholesterol medications for my mom) so I need to remedy that. I was able to make a sketch for SSD’s Take Out Tuesday and I love how it turned out:

I actually made a direct lift out of the sketch and I love how it turned out – it looked like a paper scrap to me:

Remember you can always flip, rotate, and add your own variety to the sketch. It was just give you a basis on where to start your design.

Be You

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

It has been a while since I made a page for my boy. Scrapping him these days is hard, since he has mood swings and has developed an aversion for the camera. I also cannot help but get all emotional and preachy whenever I try to journal on his pages. I think I would need quotes for growing up and values for this kid (as well as recommended diets for quick weight loss as I need to lose weight fast!).

SSD’s Petit Fours

Monday, February 8th, 2010

You guys know I rarely scrap if it needs to be on a short-term notice. I just have a hard time scrapping under pressure. It also takes me time to work around showcasing a kit if I just received and downloaded it. But it all changed when I saw SSD’s latest offering, the Petit Fours!

I have never scrapped with kits so easily. Trust me, these kits will be worth every penny!

And this is a first for me – showing layouts I scrapped the day I also downloaded it ;) Hope you like them!

I Don’t Scrap About US that Often.

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Maybe primarily because there are only a few nice pictures of us – it’s always about getting him a picture with the kids recently as he works away during weekdays. So it was nice make a page about us for SSD’s Treat of the Month in January (Jaclyn Bernardo a.k.a mrsjb).

We are subconsciously really working hard to focus and make time for each other this year so I really hope we can make it last throughout the year. I am now cooking (yes, it’s a miracle) to help reduce cholesterol and save us money while he is more appreciative of what I do and doesn’t even compete with me for computer time anymore :) . I tell you, miracles do happen!

More Holiday Preview Week Pages

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Sharing them all before I don’t get to have the time again:

This page is about their outfits during Christmas Eve. I noticed we don’t have any nice formal portraits since 2006! I need to remedy that this year.

This is a page I made to remind me why I do scrap and why I love making pages that tell our stories. Five years from now, my daughter will be reading her stories and OUR stories and that makes me feel so excited! Next week we will be buying our tree and will have their teeth checked, maybe even consult an implant dentist Plano for my root canal gone bad :( .

Holiday Preview Week at LDD

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

If you have hopped over at the LDD blog at various times during the week, you would have read and seen all the amazing layouts for Holiday Preview Week!image I was luckily able to get some layouts done while looking for auto insurance quotes that will not break our pocket after adding the Acts of God clause into our contract (with all the recent flooding, we can never be too sure anymore).

It was such perfect timing too as I was able to start on documenting our Christmas 2008 album – I got four pages done! Imagine that :D

This was my favorite from all my pages:
