I have already blogged about the devastating effect of Typhoon Ondoy in our country. More than a week after it hit our country, flood waters in most areas are still waist-deep and families are still trying to salvage and clean what is left of their homes. People are getting sick in evacuation centers. While relief operations are still ongoing and private sectors are really stepping up and helping, you need to remember that it is just what it is – to provide "relief". But the pain and loss is still there. I really do not know how the families will start rebuilding their lives. Most of our family friends who have been affected chose to relocate and badly need help, monetary or otherwise, to transfer. What more the thousands of families who are less fortunate?

So it was decided that our organization will hold a free medical mission for those affected by the typhoon. Our organization has top notch doctors and a full medical team that can perform surgeries and medical check-ups from the US. Also, they were able to request a local hospital to let us use their facilities for one day. We have been donating hospital equipment from the US and Canada to their hospital for a long time, in fact, the CT Scan, X-ray machines and Used Ultrasound came from the US. It seems that hospital equipment gets replaced after a number of years even if they are still working properly. Most hospitals gladly donate them as long as it’s for charity.
