Saturday 9 – I want you back

Saturday 9: I Want You Back
1. Where were you when you heard that Michael Jackson died? At home, I found out about his death at Twitter.

2. How do you think that he will be remembered? Icon of the 80s. He really brought the fashionable tuxedo, one gloved hand and penny loafers to great heights!

3. What was your favorite Jackson tune? Smooth Criminal!

4. Did you watch the original Charlie’s Angels? I think so but my memory of it is vague.

5. Did someone you know have that poster of Farrah? No

6. Did you consider her battle with cancer heroic? Yes, she was brave to subject herself to experimental treatment – that is scary

Elderly Care

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I had a grandmother who I lost to Alzheimer’s disease. It was painful to watch her “lose” herself  and become somebody who is a far cry from the vivacious, strong woman that is my grandmother. She suffered from it for more than ten years. Back then, it was a slow painful death, for her and for us, her family. She required special elderly care, and since we couldn’t find a nursing home that is suitable for her, we decided to acquire the services of an in-home health care specialist, a nurse and a midwife.

More often than not geriatric people (elderly people who cannot, most often than not, take care of themselves anymore) die because of complications arising from simple accidents. That is why it is recommended to avail of nursing home services if family members can no longer assist or take care of their elderly family member. Most especially if they are left at home alone most of the time.

There are different nursing homes that cater to elderly people. There are skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), intermediate care facilities (ICFs) and in home health care. The skilled nursing facilities usually have extensive range of services and have 24-hour licensed professionals like medical doctors and nurses.

For Today, June 23rd

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I so love the blog post from Ali today and thought I’d make one for myself. You will never know when it would be the perfect scrapbook page. I have not been able to scrap last week save for some Father’s Day “cards” I made for the husband. I was busy comparing insurance marketing strategies for my sister who needs it for her research paper.

So without further ado:

Love this simple documentation idea from The Simple Woman’s Day Book via apple likes orange:

FOR TODAY
June 21st, 2009

Outside my window…clothes dry from the clothesline waiting to be taken in and folded.
I am thinking…about priorities and unlearning bad habits. Deep I know. I am not ready to share it that much yet.

I am thankful for…opportunities and the chance to still stay at home, earn, be with the kids despite hard times.

From the kitchen…still thinking about this – maybe afritada for today.

I am wearing…grey sweats.

I am creating…layouts due with my Creative Teams.

I am going…to be going outside for a walk.

I am reading…Twilight again.

I am hoping…to get more work this week. Times are iffy and I need not be complacent

I am hearing…cartoons blaring from the TV. Martha is up early (6:30AM)

Around the house…there are a lot of little things that are really clutter.

One of my favorite things…the quiet time before I prepare my eldest for school. I get to think more clearly.

A few plans for the rest of the week…start working on a new album for client, book at least two more clients next month, erase backlogs – and scrap.

A picture to share

Watch Shopping

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

After designer brand bag shopping over at Flickr with Bebot friends, we have now progressed to everything  – wallets, shoes, clothes and watches! I think watches are considered a “lesser” evil as they are less noticeable from the husbands :) . They are not necessarily less expensive though, since the watch I have been wanting for the longest time is around $400 – worth a designer bag, definitely. Since I already have a Coach Signature Satchel bag, I am restraining myself on buying more bags. One is enough (for now) since I rarely go out anyways. But I can buy a watch though, if I had the funds. Our friends are mostly selling affordable but really nice brands – Fossil, DKNY, Anne Klein, Kenneth Cole. The only watch I have dates back to 2002 and is a stainless Kenneth Cole watch for men. The one I like is actually a Technomarine Watch. The cheapest one has interchangeable watch straps. They are not as expensive as the Python Watch Bands my uncle has in all colors though. I really think that even though women love to shop, men’s items are more expensive. Just take for example, shoes. You cannot buy rubber shoes for less than $100 for men. And my husband wants Nike ones to boot!

An Application that can change the Legal Profession

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I just have to share this piece of information I have gathered from a lawyer friend who I had lunch with just today. We met up in one of our favorite restaurants which had free wi-fi internet connection as our meeting involved her getting some information from me as witness to one of our friend’s annulment cases. I was actually surprised she would want wi-fi connection as she can just record our meeting using paper and pen. But she was using a new application developed by LOGICBit Science and Technology Corp. called Houdini ESQ.

It is an application that can work on any OS in any computer in any browser that allows a lawyer to access ALL central information with just one tiny click of a mouse – anywhere, anytime. It will surely be a huge help in data gathering in trial cases. It saves time, money and effort. All information about the trial – judge, counsel, witnesses – are saved and each of the legal team can see it once it is updated. It really changes the legal profession, as you can see. It can cut down paperwork and updating research work in half.

Houdini ESQ is a web based enterprise case management application. You can control what you can share on this application. It clearly is very powerful:.

Live Life. Scrapbook Second.

My mantra: Live Life. Scrapbook Second. (yes, very CZ).
Used Michelle Coleman’s Pink Chocolate Collection.
(Blended two papers and used her brushes, and font!)
Font: Ambience BT Swash, MCO Pink Chocolate

I was offline for the last couple of days save for two hours of email and work time during the evening. I did that on purpose because I was feeling a little contemplative and wanted to just do “nothing”. Staying online is staying busy for me. That’s where I work, get my creative inspiration and chat with friends. Staying offline forced me to not multi-task and I got to enjoy watching the TV, watching movies, just sitting on the couch with the husband and playing with the kids – without checking what’s new online every five minutes.

I also transferred ALL my pictures to my EHD – about time people. I had a lot of fun reminiscing everything dating back 2005 – WOW! It also gave me a lot of things to scrapbook about – and Im feeling the need to print pictures again (Artscow here I come!)

I also realized I havent touched my camera in weeks. Did a couple of shots the past few days but Im feeling rusty – what should I capture? Grey skies and rainy days are very blah to me. I need to make time for it again.

We all need to live life first.
