Shopping: Accessories
Thursday, March 19th, 2009It is only now that I am finding some interest in accessories. Usually before, Im just in jeans and a shirt wearing flat shoes with a plain bag. That’s it! I know, very boring. But ever since I got interested in make-up again, I am finding my attention being diverted to accessories too. It really adds some spunk to a usual get up. I remember using dangling earrings last Christmas and it sure grabbed the attention of plenty of people. The thing with accessories it, sometimes they do not come cheap so I try my best to look for something unique and still affordable at the same time.
Look at this Tom Tom necklace. It makes for a great conversation piece don’t you think? I have to be honest though that I would not be caught dead wearing it – not exactly my type. My sister might like this though.
According to the page I saw this from at Stylehive.com, it has navy ribbon bows, chains are copper plated brass, gunmetal plated brass and bronze coated brass, enamel and brushed gold buttons, gunmetal plated brass lobster claw clasp.
As I’ve said before, I am really a romantic type of dresser so I love elegant, dainty, girlish accessories. I occasionally use gold hoops and something very flashy but if it is called for – like a girl’s night out for example.
Shopping: Shirts, Tops and Blouses
Thursday, March 19th, 2009I am basically a T-shirt and jeans type of person. I seldom go out without wearing jeans so you can understand that I have more than ten pairs of jeans. (All shades of blue too!) I really need to find more tops though. I’m kind of boring in this department. Truth be told, when I see a top that looks good on me, I try and buy every color available. So you can imagine I own polo shirts in every color too. It’s not easy being big and shopping here. Most local department stores don’t have anything in my size, so when I find one that fits me and I like, I hoard.
That’s one of the reasons that I love shopping online too. I love shopping on sale because I get shirts priced at $4.00 to $10.00 (especially at Old Navy) and I will never find those amazing nice shirts on sale here with that price especially with my size. So I hardly shop on stores here anymore, I do most of my shopping online.
Look at this Marc Jacobs top, isnt it cute? I saw it at Stylehive.com. I have found many nice things at that web site that’s why I’m sharing them with you.
Shopping: Channeling Carrie Bradshaw
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009Ever wanted to own the shoes Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw wore the series Sex and The City? A certified shoe-a-holic (if there was ever a term for it), Carrie Bradshaw embodies every woman out there who has such a passion for shoes. Among my friends, there is one who absolutely is a Carrie Bradshaw, she knows the brand of shoes, the specific model and which famous person wore it just by looking at a pair of shoes once. She indulges in shoes too. All her shoes are designer items and she splurges on them all the time. Her dresses are just off the rack but she will always have stunning shoes.
In her case, shoes are really a woman’s best friend.
I think, if my feet were not that big (they are size 11), I’d be a shoe-a-holic. I love shoes. If I can actually have the chance and the money, I’d buy them all the time too. I think I own more than fifteen pairs of shoes – and I already consider that a lot. There are friends I know who own more than fifty pairs of shoes! She even has this ultra pointy Omelle sandal!
Shopping: Laptop Bags
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009I’ve had G, my Dell Inspiron 1525, for almost a year now. I got her March 20 last year. And up until now, she is homeless. She doesn’t have a permanent place in our home to stay – no table nor even a workstation – and when I store her, she goes into a borrowed laptop sleeve from my sister. Our temporary place of residence is the dining table where I work most of the time. She has placemats, food, and more food as companion. I worry that she might have water or juice spilled into her it was a good thing that I got a laptop fan/cooler to make sure she doesn’t overheat – I work more than 12 hours a day and I’m sure G is always dead tired.
You might be asking why I refer to my laptop by name and why I refer to her lovingly all the time. She was named after my best bud who helped me buy it from the US, she is PINK (oh yes, PINK!) and well, she, like my best bud, has been with me through thick and thin. For someone who earns a living by working from home thanks to the internet, a great computer/laptop is a must. And that is what I got!
I’m still waiting for my workstation to be built (still gathering funds from the financier aka the husband) so Im looking for a nice laptop bag. Im leaning towards the Crumpler as I already have it as well from the dSLR camera. However, if you are a career woman who needs fashion and efficiency in one bag, check out the Aridza Bross bag :
Just by looking at it, you know you can stuff your whole house into the bag!
Shopping: Anthropologie
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009I’m going be sharing a couple of great finds in the next posts. I recently discovered a haven of shopping finds at Stylehive.com.
If you haven’t heard of the store Anthropologie, you are in for a real treat of eye candy sweetness. I found out about this site from fellow scrapbookers and even digital scrapbook designers saying the site is truly inspirational – the patterns of the clothes and the colors are inspiring they get ideas from it on their digital kits.
It truly is an inspiring shop for women’s clothes, shoes and accessories.
Here are a few that caught my eye:
I consider myself a romantic classic dresser – lots of clean solid lines with whimsy ruffles and accents. That’s just so me (if I had sizes on my clothes preferences that is!)
These skirts are really cute and funky:
This Odille skirt is really unique too, pair it up with a solid top and lots of accessories and patented ballet flats and you are one funky momma!
Now, what would complete an outfit best other than the perfect shoes! Shoes for me are the best accessory! Since Im tall, I prefer to be in flats.
Arent you drooling already?
Scrapping is Therapeutic.
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009I can never begin to explain how scrapping has been a form of therapy for me ever since I started. I classify myself as a person with too many issues. And even if I seem “open” with my life, there are a lot of thoughts and struggles beneath my surface that I tend to keep for myself. I think I solve and figure out my struggles better when I keep it to myself.
Thus whenever you see my pages, especially those that are heavy on journaling, you get to peek in some serious drama in my head and heart. And this page is no exception. I love that the challenge over at JWD made me create this page.
Again, this one is from a template. I decided to make more time writing and finding pictures than going crazy with the design. This was finished in 30 minutes
WOW, this challenge went straight to my heart. Thank you.

I actually miss a lot of things. Truth be told, I never really experienced my kids as babies. I had my eldest when I was 19, and I went back to school three months after he was born. He was with my mother-in-law for six months, with me only having to take care of him during weekends, when my nanny went away. I didn’t see his first step and I wasn’t there when he was started to walk and run. My youngest was born during tough times. We were changing nannies week after week and I couldn’t resign from my job because we needed all the money we can get. It wasn’t healthy for my baby so she stayed with my Mom until I was able to resign for good.
While I do know that I really didn’t have that much of a choice when they were babies and that I did what I could to take care of them, seeing all these pictures of them so young leaves me with bittersweet feelings. I will never be able to bring back the time when they were little and needed me. But I am doing all that I can now to take care of them the way I can. The best way I know how. I have been staying at home for 10 months now and while I feel sometimes that the world went on without me, I remind myself of all the things that I miss and I don’t mind letting the world forget about me. The world may go round and round for all I care, for now, Im stopping for my children.
Whooopppsss. I’ve been scrapping..
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009but I havent shared it yet here on my blog. Sorry about that. I did some very nice pages for myself last weekend and it’s for something top-secret so I can’t share them with you yet.
I think I have mentioned that I reformatted my laptop last last week and while I was transferring pictures from DVDs to my laptop, I discovered baby pictures. Well, the term should be rediscovered. I uploaded them to Flickr for easier viewing and scrapping. I also unearthed a lot of vacation pictures that need scrapping. I need to plan a trip for us this summer (it wouldnt be in the Outer Banks rentals though, too bad!)

Shopping Loots
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009They have arrived finally! I shopped for my husband and my son last December and they finally came. It came in the box that had my Wacom Pen Scrappers prizes too (Pictures to come!) and some IKEA organizers and drawers I ordered from Glo. All of us were really happy with our loots – including Martha who received her own make-up kit from her godmother.
I also received the Twilight Saga – in hardbound books! Glo got this as gift for me as well (I’m spoiled can’t you tell?
) What was even better was that my mother-in-law sent in some items for us as well – so you can imagine our weekend was full of nice surprises. Martha had a lot of hand me down clothes while Edil and Matthew got matching basketball shoes. I’m the luckiest though because my mother-in-law got me four pairs of jeans and two pairs of flats. She really loves me, I’m so lucky!
My mother-in-law knows I cannot shop in stores here because of my size so she got me some jeans – one was from the line of Sarah Jessica Parker and the other one was from American Eagle. She told me if there was winter here, she would buy me some nice UGG Boots as they were also on sale – they are the nicest (and most fashionable) shoes for winter as they are thermostatic. But since she cannot, she bought me nice Naturalizer flats (on sale too!).
