My word last year was CHANGE and I was surprised how powerful it was the whole year. So I gave some serious thought on mine this year. I want it to be as powerful as last year.
You see, I have so many goals. I have so many plans. So many dreams. So many “I want to..”, “I have to..” and “I need to..”. Clearly I would not be able to reprioritize everything.
I want to focus. Moderate. Get rid of excesses. Balance.
Take some time for myself. Give time for the kids. Still have time to be a good wife.
And then I got overwhelmed. How will I ever have time for everything? Can I still get everything? (I want to accomplish so many things).
Then came my word.
discipline
1. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.
2. Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training; self-control.
I knew if I had the discipline to CONTROL myself – my cravings, my excesses, my indulgences – I can achieve ALL my goals. The key here is self-control.
So that I can save, I should CONTROL spending.
So that I can be healthy, I should CONTROL my cravings. (That way I won’t need diet pills)
So that I can have time, I should CONTROL idleness and excessive surfing on the net.
It’s more than self-control, it involves me taking it to a higher level. Controlling makes you control the NOW, it doesnt end the yearning. But once you have the discipline, the yearnings will be non-existent.
xoxo, Aggie
