Artscow Book – Review

My Artscow book arrived two weeks ago but I only had the chance to see it last Friday. I was really excited to see it and I can say it has met my (great) expectations. I will try to be objective in giving the review but please feel free to ask if you have anymore questions. (I will be comparing it to Shutterfly though as it is the only photobook company I have also tried)

1. Packaging: It came in a white-greyish plastic package – no logo whatsoever. The book was sandwiched in two pieces of foam enclosed with a cardboard. Quite shabby but what do you expect. As long as the book itself is in good condition, no complaining here.

2. Book:
a. Cover: Hardcover, no “lukot”. Harder than Shutterfly. (Thinner I guess? No padding).

b. Pages: Colors are vibrant – almost like Shutterfly. Bleed areas are noticeable. I noticed big pictures are grainy. I dont know if it’s my cam (I doubt it) or their print itself.

c. Stitching: Their book is stitched which is better for me.

Pros:
1. For the price, it really is worth it.

2. Quality is OK. If you take time to study and be careful with the bleed areas it’s going to be OK.

3. The price is very cheap.

Cons:
1. They only print up to 39 pages.

2. The 20 page PB is actually 23 pages. So prepare one more spread :)
3. I had page numbers on pages 20-24 when I turned them off on all pages.
