DSD Loots

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Yes Im posting this early because I’m done with shopping. With SSD celebrating DSD tomorrow with loads of new stuff, I know I can afford NOT to shop. But, of course, Kasia has been calling my name so I bought some stuff I dont have of hers. I think I can officially say I own 93% of her store, which translates she has only 7 kits I don’t own :)

I need to have a Kasia Week blocked out in my scrapping schedule:

And I got this for free for spending $10:

I havent finished downloading them all (The Blast Off kit is HUGE) but Im organizing everything. I hope I can scrap today.

Ill be back later in the day to post about SSD’s DSD events :D

Digi-Dare 107: Hotties

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Join us this week!

Did you ever fall in love with someone who isn´t real or someone who you know you will never reach? Maybe a big filmstar, a boyband guy, a hero from a book, or just a boy at school… My dare is to scrap about him!

Dare Flair:

  • you have to use at least one black and white photo (if you have no pic of him, use a stockphoto
  • the main colors have to be black and white with a little bit red or blue.
  • the title has to be the name of the person
  • do write about him and highlight some words about him in different fonts

Everyone who plays along will receive a 20% coupon from Kay Miller!!

Of course there is no question who MY hottie will be :D

Yes, he deserves a page in our scrapbooks. Im actually including this in the Year in the Life album Im making, as soon as I finish the Summer 2008 Im doing. LOL.

Credits: Fei Fei’s Stuff: Different Strokes, Heart Brush from Moments Element Pack, Anna Aspnes Fotoblends Clipping Masks No.6, Fonts: Times New Roman, SS Mono Journaling: He was more than any obssession slash addiction I had with any actor. I was never a fan of Korean drama. Watching Coffee Prince changed all that. Seeing Gong Yoo awakened this little girl in who still believes Prince Charming slash Mr. Perfect exists. Yes. I got hooked, line and sinker. Bad. He still haunts my dreams long after he served in the military. He is the ONE, who I will look back to when the kids grow up and tell them about like how my Mom talks about Paul McCartney and Robert Redford. Yes kids, meet the one who was your Dad’s only serious competition ever. Of course, you know I’m joking. Written:10.30.2008

Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Monday, October 27th, 2008

dsd-button.jpgWhat happens on November 1?

DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY!

From Angie Pederson’s blog:

Digital Scrapbooking Day was first established by Triscape, Inc. in 2007 to create awareness for digital scrapbooking – not only as a creative way to document and display memories, but also as a means to archive photos and memorabilia safely digitally. Digital Scrapbooking Day (DSD) is intended to act as a catalyst to set aside some time at least annually to digitally documenting your personal history.

Susan White, of Triscape and the Scrappin’ without Scraps blog, has been very busy this week updating the DSD blog, and linking to all sorts of goings-on in the digital community.  Be sure to check out her posts on DSD Facebook Flair, and where to find a list of DSD Events, Activities, & SALES.

Digital Scrapbooking Magazine Editor Jennafer Martin has also been busy – she’s created a DSD “festival” page on Facebook.  DSM is also co-hosting a holiday card contest in honor of Digital Scrapbooking Day, along with Scrapblog and Creating Keepsakes: Scrapblog Challenge

What are your plans? That would be a Saturday for me so Edil will be home. I plan to sneak in some chat time when the kids go to sleep :) Edil has plans to play basketball in the morning and then we might go to the mall if there is no traffic, do groceries, check out some Nikon rifle scopes he needs to give to a doctor and then at night there will be some family bonding time!

Jumpstart Challenges

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Here are some challenges I personally like to participate in if I had an extra 24 hours in my day. The challenges at SSD, the DigiDares and my own scrap idea pages keep me busy already. However, when I am stuck in a scrapping rut, I just look at their challenges to get my creative juices flowing.

1. Creative Inspiration by Tara and Kayleigh
- They do challenges like the recipe challenges in SSD (and HMITM – a paper challenge @ 2Peas), design composition ideas and scraplifts.

2. HodgePodge
- Idea/page prompts.

3. Effer Dares

And special mention to:
Valerie’s Sketches and Page Maps!
Pencil Sketches are also nice, Michelle Filo is now part of their team so every week we have a template to download along with the sketch!

Hope these prompts help you as much as the diet pill reviews I had to research earlier! ;)

And a freebie for coffee lovers out there:

A Note from Robin about SSD!

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. It’s Monday here where I am at and our weekend was crazy happy busy! The kids went swimming again last Saturday and Martha enjoyed the water even without pool floats. I was out most of the day so I didn’t have to chance to blog about Sweet Shoppe Saturdays.

Here is an important portion of the newsletter if you havent received nor read it yet:

SSD 10.25

Digi Dare 106

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I am hosting this week so I hope you play along :)

I’m all about positivity. I always believed that happiness is a choice so everyday, I strive to choose to be happy I was inspired by a blog post I read months back that had such a huge impact to many people. Every Wednesday, he would list his “Happy Thoughts” which can consist from anywhere to learning his aunt had no cancer to having clean bed sheets . So this week, Id like you to scrap your happy thoughts! Make your page scream HAPPY to me and scrap in your this-makes-me-happy color!

Dare Flair:

Use a doodle somewhere in your page

Go mad with typefaces/fonts/alphas – highlighted words, big fonts, little fonts.

Use a custom shape somewhere in your page (scallops, waves, wings, hearts, except for regular shapes like circles, triangles, squares and rectangles!) — Use the custom shape tool in Photoshop if you have one!

Here is my layout!

10-26 Digi Dare 106: Happy Thoughts

No plans for us this Friday night except to let the kids stay up late watching DVDs. They are now watching Aristocrat while I try to work (and scrap and blog and chat with friends). They a long line of movies which consist of celebrities like SpongeBob, Barney, Elmo and Disney friends. We need a bigger TV for all of these. Getting home theater seating would be a big plus too!

All Around the DigiLand

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

1. If you haven’t registered already, go register for the Stories in Hand class by Jessica Sprague. It’s FREE. And I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.

2. Audrey Neal’s upcoming class at WST sounds promising. I always love Audrey’s blog posts at her Writer’s Station.

Audrey Neal List Mania

3. Love Halloween? Ali has the perfect minibook for it.

4. This is a perfect idea for a birthday layout.

5. Stuck on journaling? These 6 simple steps might help. (And yes, I love simple)

6. Michelle Filo is my ultimate hybrid goddess inspiration. Her fairy tale castle album absolutely rocks.

And yes, I’d be doing this regularly (6 stops all over digiland per week) – a better deal than going on a vacation and being on vegas hotels if you ask me.

For now, Id rather scrap :)

All About Kristin

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I thought I’d somehow highlight the SSD designers one by one here on my blog and share the layouts I have made using their products. Since I am assigned to Kristin Cronin-Barrow this month, I think I can highlight her first.

I love Kristin’s work, her color choices are always right on, her papers have really nice texture and they just “shine” for me. I can’t help but fall in love with her work more. Here are a few of the most recent ones I made using her products. My most favorite to date is Natural Beauty I think :)

10-14 Follow Your Bliss

10-17 Radiant

10-21 Love and-slash-to Hate

And I thought Id share the template made out of the layout above. As usual, please direct people to this post so they can download and Id love to see what you do with it. I’m loving multi-photo layouts lately and this will be perfect!

I Can’t Believe This is Free!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Miss Mint always gives aways the best free stuff!

Kindergarten Kraft

And since it’s free, I dont think I should tell you to get over there and get it already, right?
Here are three LOs I made using this kit (it’s that fabulous, really!)

10-24 Draw

10-23 I Wub Books

10-25 Dictionary

**Click on them to see them larger**

I have been on a roll when it comes to scrapping lately. And as always, with scrapping mojo in full force, everything just slides – work-wise and health-wise. I’d rather sit and scrap and stay up late. And when I stay up late, I tend to snack a lot. I think I have gained back all the pounds I’ve lost :( . I need to start getting motivated again and start moving and hitting the treadmill. People tell me ellipticals will be better for me but I have yet to try it out.
