For the Love of Kasia

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I am seriously in love with a new designer. I cannot believe I didnt work with her designs before when I was buying her kits when she was still at {WST}.

Kasia Designs.
And I dont really fall in love with a designer easily, you know. There are designers who I crush (their work I mean) but working with their stuff is just hard for me. But with Kasia, I managed to get three layouts done in three hours. And I just sat down and told myself, “OK, just do something creative for once.”

I love how all of these turned out :)

Cars and their engines.

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Ever used a second hand car? Make sure to test its engine first with midwest auto recycling before buying it – it can be more costly with the maintenance works than buying a new one, Im told. Midwest Auto Recycling specializes in used engines and transmissions and has one of the strongest warranty nation wide. All miles are CARFAX verified. All ENGINES come as a complete assembly. They are started, inspected for compression, cylinder leak down tested, checked for oil pressure and cleaned. ALL TRANSMISSIONS are test driven, visually inspected and cleaned. I need to consider these things when buying a car soon. I hope!

— The Best Gift Ever —

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom
and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had
purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him.

He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man’s name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,
“With all your money you give me a Bible?”
And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very
successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him.
He had not seen him since that graduation day.

I have been scrapping (at least a page a day) and it feels good :D

More thoughts to come, I just want to share these :)

It feels good to be scrapping on a laptop loaded with computer memory. I currently have 2GB and would wish often it was 3GB or 4GB! I know – one can never be truly satisfied – I think my laptop has expandable memory so maybe, just maybe I can actually upgrade this baby when the time comes. For now, I want to upgrade its space by getting a 5GB external hard disk. That is on my to-get list before 2008 ends.

Spa Job Openings

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Masseuses are in demand these days. It is because there is a growth spurt of spas and salons in the city (actually, everywhere). It is one way of confirming that people have a lot of stress to deal with nowadays and they need to unwind so much more than before. Recently, the company BeautyJobs launched a job placement website specifically catered to qualified job seekers with salon and spa owners and others who have beauty, salon, spa, or cosmetology jobs to fill—free of charge. So spa jobs like masseuses, nail and hairstylists are welcome there. I have a friend who just graduated from a Beauty Institute. I need to remember to refer her.

Translation:
It’s school time!

My kids have a five-year age gap. This is the first time that my youngest understands that her big brother goes to school. It is easier for me to include her when the big brother and I are doing homework than to keep her occupied in front of the TV. That way, she is also encouraged to draw and learn a little.

Shopping for Unique Giveaways

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

There was a time when almost everybody I know are getting married so I have been getting the same souvenirs left and right – a CD of their favorite music! I have been on the lookout for unique wedding favors when I got married so we can be different – hence the refrigerator magnets. At least people got to use them, not just glass figurines (which just adds to house clutter!) The definitive destination for wedding supplies, The Knot Wedding Shop has top-quality wedding supplies and novelty items ranging from wedding cameras and ring pillows to personalized attendant gifts, cake toppers, and more! Many of these collections are the only ones available today that can be personalized with the couple’s names and wedding date.
