Small Cars for Racing

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

image What you are seeing is not a matchbox car toy – it is a welter weight car or a dwarf race car, as it is commonly known among racers.

Dont let the small size of it fool you as it is really made for racing – Dwarf cars are "real" race cars, not family go-karts.  With modern design suspension, Dwarf cars are achieving speeds similar to the fastest full size cars. Dwarf cars are 5/8 scale replica models of vintage 1928-1948 American made automobiles.  They have full steel roll cages; sheet metal bodies, and powered by 4 cylinder motorcycle engines up to 1250cc.  They have full racing suspension and are capable of speeds over 100 mph (160 kmh) on the straight-aways.  With their size and quickness, they are perfectly suited to asphalt track oval racing.

There is a full online catalog of new and second hand welterweight race cars for sale at the Peter D Motorsports website. Peter has an in-house engineer who had CAD designed the cars and their parts as well. They also sell complete parts for your cars! Their business started in 1988 in a 1000 sq ft shop behind Peter and Lynn’s house six months after Peter bought his first Dwarf Car.

Scrap Goal 2009

2008 Goals:

Scrap Goals
Print those layouts.

I’m proud to say I did most of them!
I finished my Christmas Album. I shopped still but not as much as before. There are months when I didn’t even buy a single thing.

And finally, I was able to clear my backlog of digital pages! I still have 75 pages to print but it is all good (I actually just ordered them today). Thanks to Artscow, I only paid for shipping as I have a lot of free credits because of referring people!

I did three books (christmas album, everyday life album and summer memories album), around 6 brag books and close to 325 pages :D

Im so excited about next year – I have a shelf dedicated to my photos and albums and I cant wait to arrange them for my very own Library of Memories!

So my scrap goal for 2009 is very simple – I just want to have my printed pages updated. That means all my scrap pages and loose prints gets printed every month – now that will be easy because I have free Artscow credits to last me the whole year, I even have two books each month :D

I plan to get one themed album done per month (I can do more but that’s my limit so I can do other things LOL).

I have simplified my teams as well and cut back to two. More on that later :D

Wedding Planning

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I am planning a bridal shower for her a few weeks before her actual wedding day. For all you know, I am still crazy over wedding planning. Wedding Ideas are always a sure way to excite the planner out of me :) . More so, Wedding Planning!! I even have bookmarked color themes that are becoming a trend or I foresee becoming one. The Wedding Channel is one of those sites I have turned to when I was planning my wedding. I intend to recommend it also to my friend. Now, back to shower planning. Her med friends want a stripper. But I am so old-fashioned to even be excited to see one. I even was originally planning to just take her out on a spa date and an all pampering spree. We will see how it goes.

No Scraps in 28 days.

Yes, I havent made a single page since December 1. I have some left unfinished but I feel I wont be finishing them. Ill just make new ones. There is virtually no time – if there is, I dont have the creative energy to even open up Photoshop. We have been enjoying the holidays and have been entangled with all the busy craziness of it. We really havent had time to breathe and relax and enjoy a day’s worth of lazing around at home.

We have been making home plans though and our house is taking a little shape with some decorating and a LOT of purging. We are wanting to get a new TV console table for the living room. I’m choosing from tv stands that have no shelf above it so we can put pictures on top.

I finally got my Artscow 8×10 prints from my sister. They have been at the house in Manila for weeks but I haven’t been able to get them.

After seven photobooks and around 350 prints, I finally am 90% complete with my backlog of scrapped pages – I haven’t printed anything of my work since I started scrapbooking (December 2005) and I have long wanted to print them all but budget is really something I don’t have OR I have the budget but it goes to something else. Needless to say, it just wasn’t my priority.

I’m so glad Artscow came along to help me print everything. If you ask me how much I spent with Artscow for the past two months, I can actually tell you, you just need to ask me. And while the amount maybe staggering, keep in mind that I actually printed more than 650 worth of 8×10 (sometimes 8×8) prints and I was able to slash as much as 60% off the current rates here in Manila.

I finally am able to use my American Crafts 8×8 Modern Album which has been given by Glo TWO YEARS ago! LOL. I plan to house around 100 layouts per album – and right now, I filled one album. I still need to order more page protectors from Rekindled Moments to be able to house the remaining 200 layouts I have.

The kids have been poring over them all night. Edil was shocked to see everything and was suspicious of how much it cost LOL. He prefers the photobooks though.

Seeing all my work in print has made me realize 1) I need to incorporate printing pages in my monthly budget. Thankfully, I have Artscow credits to last me the whole year even if I print 50 pages a month. 2) My style. I now know which is more effective as a memory keeper for my family. It is very subjective – my style might now work for others, but it works for my kids. Im sticking with it. 3) The designers whose work I will invest on – this goes to show how I will be reducing almost 95% of my shopping spree on digital kits. 4) My organization – which I will be discussing in detail come next year. AND 5) What else should I capture.

I am just so happy to be able to finally see all the work I put in my computer for endless hours for the past three years. I really recommend you print them immediately!

Books. Books. And More Books.

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Looking back to this year that is about to close – Im thinking of two things: 1) How much money I have spent on scrapping and 2) How much of it went to buying books that are related to still, scrapping.

I actually have done very well when it comes to fighting impulsive buys when it comes to scrapping stuff and books. Most of the money I will be earning next year will be going to the purchase of new and the latest nursing books out in the market, specifically, nursing review books for the NCLEX. I really need to get back to studying or else I am so sure I will be left behind.

There are books available at Borders that I can check out. I might as well check out some law books for friend. She is on her last year at law school and the books are very expensive.

Aside from nursing books, I am to get a few fitness and diet books as well. Among all my goals this year, my career as a nurse and my health are the two areas that have been very very neglected. I need to remedy that next year. But first, I need to get those books.

A Point and Shoot Camera.

Friday, December 19th, 2008

imageThis what I got as one of my prizes at the Wacom PenScrappers Contest, it’s a Sony Cybershot DSCW150 (8.1mp). I have been wanting to get a point and shoot camera for a long time now because I don’t want to lug the DSLR camera around when I go out by myself all the time. I was hoping for the latest edition of the  Canon camera – the Canon PowerShot SD880 IS but I know it will be impractical for me to get one. It’s such a nice thing that I got one for free!

I saw this at Stacy’s blog and just had to squeal with delight over all the eye candy. I’m a frustrated paper scrapper – too much expensive for me – so I love living vicariously through paper scrappers who post their work online. Maybe all that will change once I get my printer. Maybe, if I can also afford to buy ink! :) I need a  toll free number to check the shipping status, by the way.
