1. Link a paper chain to count down the holiday celebrations.
2. Decorate your home together.
3. Have a karaoke night with your favorite CD.
4. Make paper dolls for your favorite holiday story.
5. Turn on the holiday lights with an “unveiling” celebration.
6. Label holiday gift tags together—for family, friend and neighbor gifts.
7. Give an anonymous gift to someone each day during the “twelve days of Christmas” or each day of Hanukkah.
8. Drive to your favorite lights display(s).
9. Visit a women’s shelter, bringing warmth, love and possibly a gift.
10. Create cards, then gather envelopes and stamps and take them to a homeless shelter so patrons can still send greetings to their family during the holidays.
11. Have a fieldtrip to buy your gift wrap for the year.
12. No snow in the forecast? Crush some ice to create your own snowballs, then enjoy a snowball fight outside.
13. Call a friend and ask her about a favorite tradition you may learn from her.
14. Make Rice-Krispies treats in a holiday shape.
15. Decorate a photo frame for the holidays, then snap a family portrait to put inside.
16. Set up a puzzle and have holiday visitors add a piece when they come.
17. Make wreaths with your children for each of their bedroom doors.
18. Enjoy a marathon baking day.
19. Create holiday Bingo cards, crossword puzzles or word searches.
20. Host a winter picnic in front of the fireplace.
21. Make and send thank-you notes.
22. Catch up with a friend you haven’t called in months.
23. Invite neighbors for warm cider, doughnuts and a holiday movie night.
24. Decorate stars with cardstock, glitter and other supplies.
25. Write and illustrate your own Christmas or Hanukkah story—frame the pages to display in your home.
26. Collect favorite songs to create your own book of carols—then spend an evening caroling around your neighborhood.
27. Paint a holiday or winter scene in your front windows using washable, nontoxic acrylic paint.
28. Try a new holiday recipe.
29. Make snow angels—if there’s no snow on the ground, create the angels with your scrapbooking supplies.
30. Record a favorite memory from holidays past.
31. Scrapbook your favorite memories from this year.
