Prescription Addiction - Opiates

There are different kinds of addiction. One can be addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex while others can be addicted to food, power, cigarette smoking or even power. The most popular addiction is addiction to prohibited drugs. However, do you know you can get addicted to prescription medication as well? Yes you can!

The most common presciption medicine that can be abused are opiates. That is because one can get addicted without him or her knowing they are becoming addicted. These medicines are powerful narcotics that can relieve pain. Doctors who have special licenses to prescribe them are the only ones who can order them to a patient. Plus, this type of medication because they activate “pleasure” centers that create euphoria while also reducing “pain” centers in the brain. So as you can see, anybody who is not really emotionally or physically stable will want it more.

There are treatment programs for that kind of addiction. The suboxone detox is part of the new and unique outpatient program called the Meditox Method. This is a six week program wherein patients undergo rehab without having the need to have himself admitted to the rehab center. With the suboxone detox treatment, patients are detoxified using another drug called buprenorphineAlso called “bupe,” the drug is sold under the trade names Temgesic, Buprenex, Subutex, and of course, Suboxone. This type of medicine actually fools the brain that opiates are there, making brain centers activate pleasure centers without having the need for opiates. That way, patients can get detoxified.

Tech Geek WishList.

Edil knows I want geek stuff for Christmas!

First on top of the list would be a Dell Inspiron 1420. Id prefer one in green or light blue, but pink really is my favorite color!

Dell Inspiron 1420 PINK

Im sure it won’t be mine this Christmas though, maybe next year I can get lucky :)

A must-have would be this: a 500GB external hard drive. I might buy this for myself:

Playing Slot Machines

Have you ever experienced playing on a slot machine? Unfortunately, I haven’t - in real life that is. The first and last time I went to Vegas I was underage and prohibited to even step foot into casinos, so I can only look at the slot machines from afar. But I get to play slots online :D I get to play at Sloterix.com. It is the oldest slots site over the net and has a growing membership of 100,000 regular members already! The site is secure as well. I love playing there because their site design is clean and not cluttered and their slot machines really look like the real thing.

Engagement Rings

Women love diamonds, who doesn’t? That is why engagement proposals ads usually have diamond engagement rings. Women find it hard to say no to diamonds. I would love to have one someday. I would prefer diamond stud earrings than wedding rings made of diamonds, because I am afraid it will get lost. If I will have the money to buy one, Ill make sure to buy from JamesAllen.com. He is a professional jeweller and his site has the most amazing styles of diamond jewelry. You are also sure you going to buy authentic diamonds, even have them customized! His site is secure and hacker-safe.

My Love for Alicia Keys.

Alicia KeysLet me give me a brief background why I love Alicia Keys. She was the first international singer I have ever seen perform, with her going on a World Tour once and she had our country on schedule. I was mesmerized by the sheer power of her voice, so very soulful. She had a hiatus after that world tour but now she is back and I couldn’t be any happier. According to reports, “Nine-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys returns with her long-awaited third studio album “As I Am” set for release on November 13″, and you bet I had the album on the day itself. I love the single ‘No One’! UK residents who are fans of Alicia will be delighted to know she will have concerts in UK come 2008! She will be in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London from February 25-29 performing! She will have a total of four concerts which I am sure will be jampacked and sold out! Can you tell I’m kind of jealous?! :)

I read this piece of good news here.

Christmas Traditions

Ali Edwards has such inspiration from her blog. She referred us to this blog from people who do not have a winter-y Christmas.

Ideas for a Summer Christmas:
I actually like these ideas:

Take a drive to enjoy the Christmas lights

See if there’s a midnight service you can attend on Christmas Eve – there’s something especially magic about them

And these are the ones we actually do every year :)

What are your holiday traditions?

Shutterfly Madness

So Shutterfly decides to send in awesome offers (like get an 8×8 and 8.5 x 11 classic book free when you place ANY order) three days before they expire. WOW. *sounding sarcastic*.

So tonight, I need to finish the calendar, get cards done (least priority - if all else fails, I will print pictures that are favorites), and choose a picture for the 11×14 collage I won

For Longer Tech Life

As testament to how advanced technology is these days, I have to make a conscious effort to keep track of the latest developments and the coolest gadgets. What’s great about buying techie stuff is that sometimes, gadgets prove to be far more durable than we expect them to be. Sometimes though, their batteries conk out too soon for any of us to know how sturdy and long-lasting they can be. For one, iPods are one of the most popular and most used gadget across the world. Despite being sturdy, their life span may be cut short because of the battery. It’s good to check outnew ipod batteries for longer life.

Colon Camp

I was watching the reunion season of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie’s “The Simple Life” yesterday on ETC. The episode I chanced upon was about the two socialites trying their luck as counselors in a camp for “health and wellness” - basically a weight loss program. Imagine two perfectly slim young women being sympathetic to the woes of overweight people - has a nice ring to it, huh? The first thing they did to the campers was a colon cleanse. A camp specialist administered the process while Paris and Nicole tried to behave and stop laughing. At the end of the episode, they managed to steal the camp supervisor’s car. It was the most diverting thing I have ever seen.

What a way…

…to start my morning :).

I woke up to a very nice e-mail today. It was a random visitor of my other blog who saw my Flickr widget and saw my Famout Pout layout. She just sent me the sweetest compliment ever. It really is nice to be complimented about your work, especially since you loved doing it.

Thanks!

Beasy Transfer Board

Have you heard of the Beasy Board Transfer Board? It is such an important tool for caregivers. It eliminates lifting, provides frictionless sliding transfers, reduces back injuries and uses the ‘no-lift’ technology. Since it is totally portable, most users can now achieve access to an automobile. The patented Beasy Board Transfer Board transfer technology places the user on a safe, circular seat. As the seat moves easily across the base of the system with the user on it, the friction of movement is borne by the system, not the user’s skin. I hope this becomes available here in the Philippines. It will certainly work with my grandmother, who, after her hip replacement three months ago, has greatly reduced movement. Im afraid she will get bed sores already. I might have an aunt buy it in the US and have it shipped here.

Christmas Scrapping.

Plans?
I plan to use templates! There are a dozen templates at SSD right now, plus the ones I picked up at Studio Janet so Im scrapping these right away! I already have a theme in mind … and Im going to go clean and simple this year too. All it needs are memories to be made and scrapped.

Will show you pages once it is done :)
Have a great Sunday!!!

A-shopping we will go..

All systems go today! We will be window shopping for the kids’ gifts. We also will be dropping by the Christmas Factory so we can get the Christmas villages already.

Plus, LeapFrog is having a 25% sale until the 27th. I will pick some stuff up for Martha’s educational toys!
The DS Lite is taken cared of.
So all I need to take care of is Edil’s gifts. Phew.

Picking the Perfect Nest

Oh, everybody has a mental image of their dream home! I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tells me that they have an idea, aside from the size of the house to the number of bedrooms or even the space at the garage, of the color template of the each room and the flowers that should be in the garden! I have a well-detailed mental image of my dream home too. I should look at the real estate, even if it’s just to appreciate the beautiful homes for the time being. LOL.

A Disability caused by Negligence

Surfing the web yesterday, I stumbled on this article and was deeply moved. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, cerebral palsy is the second-most expensive developmental disability to manage over the course of a person’s lifetime. The saddest and most terrible thing about it is that this birth injury could be caused by medical malpractice. I can’t imagine myself or any parent having to see their child grow up, disabled for life, because of someone’s negligence. While compensation that can be attained in court could alleviate the expenses of dealing with the disability, it could never translate to justice.
